Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and BiasScope. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What BiasScope is

BiasScope provides AI-assisted analysis of political video content: an estimated bias assessment, extracted claims, and automated fact-check results. Analyses are AI-generated estimates, not statements of fact. They can be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. They are provided for your personal, informational use — do not rely on them as your sole source for any decision, and do not present them as definitive fact about any person or organization.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use BiasScope. Keep your credentials secure and your account details accurate; you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account).

Acceptable use

You agree to:

• Submit only links to publicly available videos, and only content you have the right to submit.
• Comply with the terms of the platforms whose links you submit.
• Not use the service to harass, defame, or target any person or group.
• Not probe, disrupt, overload, or attempt to bypass the security or usage limits of the service.
• Not access the service by automated means or resell it without our written permission.

Content and results

Videos you submit remain the property of their creators; submitting a link does not transfer any rights to us beyond what we need to run your analysis. You grant us permission to retrieve, store, and process submitted content for that purpose. Analysis results are generated for you as commentary on the content you submitted; you may share them, but you are responsible for how you use them.

Plans and usage limits

BiasScope has a free tier and optional paid subscriptions. Every tier carries a usage allowance — a cap on how much analysis you can run in a given period — and we may throttle or decline requests that exceed your allowance or that put the service at risk. We may change the free tier's allowance at any time. For paid tiers, we will flag a reduction in the app before it takes effect, and it will not apply before your next billing period.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid subscriptions are sold as auto-renewable in-app purchases through the Apple App Store, and Apple's terms apply in addition to these.

• Price and period. The plan name, price, billing period, and any introductory or free-trial terms are shown on the purchase screen and confirmed by the App Store before you are charged. Prices vary by storefront and may change; Apple will notify you and ask for your consent before an increased price is charged.
• Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges your account within 24 hours before each renewal. A free trial, if offered, becomes a paid subscription on the same terms unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
• Cancelling. Cancel at any time in the app (Profile → Manage subscription) or in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. We cannot cancel a subscription for you, and deleting your BiasScope account does not cancel it or stop future charges.
• After you cancel. Your paid allowance runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. After that your account returns to the free tier and its allowance. Your history and saved analyses are unaffected.
• Refunds. Apple handles purchases, so Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases, we do not refund partial periods when you cancel, and unused allowance has no cash value and does not carry over.
• Suspension for breach. If we suspend or terminate your account for a breach of these terms, you are not entitled to a refund of amounts already paid.

Availability and changes

BiasScope is under active development. We may add, change, or remove features, and we do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BiasScope will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of fifty US dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with an updated effective date and flag material changes in the app; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and BiasScope consent to their jurisdiction.
